Fried Rice

Perfect for lunch with leftovers and not much else in the fridge, fried rice is a very fungible thing.  All you really need is rice and an egg.

Must Haves

  • 1 cup of previously cooked rice, cold is fine
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Oil
  • 2 tbs soy sauce
  • 1 tbs fish sauce

Other stuff you could add

  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Red pepper flake
  • Scallions
  • Carrots
  • Bell peppers
  • Celery
  • Bok choy
  • Chicken, Pork
  • Whatever else


  1. Heat wok on high
  2. Add some oil, watch it smoke
  3. Add the egg, stir, it will cook fast!
  4. Evac egg
  5. Add in some more oil
  6. Add garlic, ginger, red pepper flake, etc if using.  Cook thirty seconds
  7. Cook up any other business you are using
  8. Add in rice, cook for a couple minutes
  9. Add in soy/fish sauce
  10. Add back in egg
  11. Serve
